Parents As Partners
Parents are key to helping teens live healthy, alcohol-free and drug-free lives. Parents as Partners provides evidence-based strategies, education, and support to empower parents. Accomplishments include:
- Distribute information to parents and the community about alcohol & drug prevention
- Implement social marketing campaigns in the community on various themes throughout the year, e.g., "Talk Early. Talk Often"
- Use "Stay Out of My Room!" portable exhibit to educate parents about potential signs of substance abuse in a typical teenager's bedroom
- Participate in community events such as National Night Out and Memorial Day or 4th of July Parades
- Present information to parents at middle school events and freshman orientation nights at District 207 high schools
- Support and promote “parent pledge” programs at high schools and middle schools in Maine Township
- Provide access to regular training in effective prevention and intervention strategies for MCYAF partners
